In September 2020, twenty-three Tanzanians working in the tourism sector, had an opportunity to attend Russian language lessons at the Russian Centre for Science and Culture (RCSC) in Dar es Salaam, within the framework of the Special Intensive Course program prepared by the Center's teacher Inna Kraptsova. For three weeks, travel agencies’ workers - drivers, guides, safari companies’ proprietors as well as employees of the large Serena Hotels’ chain – ranging from chambermaids, cooks, waiters to supervisors and managers - spent three hours a day learning Russian. In the group were students aged from 20 to 60 years, but, starting from scratch, they learned the Russian alphabet within a very short time and began to read and write in Russian. The principal aim of the course was to enable them to master Russian to such a capacity that would allow one to communicate with Russian tourists, who are now coming to Tanzania in big numbers due to the opening of borders between our countries.

In the class, were practiced conversational situations in which tourists could find themselves when on a safari, in a hotel, in a restaurant, on the street, or in a shop. The level of motivation was very high since everyone absolutely clearly understood the goals and objectives of the training, appreciated the opportunity to become more professional and to achieve a career growth and optimize their business. At conclusion of the course, the students prepared a video containing scenes, in Russian language, "Tourists at the Hotel" and "Tourists on a Safari", as well as a cheerful greeting to tourists from Russia, and even a popular song about Africa from the movie "Little Red Riding Hood".

At the graduation ceremony, the Representative of “Rossotrudnichestvo” Maria Pateeva presented all students with certificates on successful completion of the intensive Russian language course. The teacher and the Center's management were very pleased to hear many among, the graduates, airing their intention to further pursue the Russian language course.
